Welcome.
To all new members
2009 Ten Teams Rally
.
The Club was formed in 1956 by the committee of Cheltenham Canine Society.
They asked Norman Braithwaite, an ex RAF dog handler, to be the instructor and, for many years, he was the mainstay of the club.
I joined on the very first evening and am still here to tell the tale.
The club has been consistently popular and successful. One of our members won the Crufts Dog Championships in 1973. We have had members chosen for the Western Team at Crufts every year since the Regional competition has been held.
There is a constant intake of new members for pet training, and the competitive side is well catered for. Training Courses are put on annually with visiting instructors. There are classes for puppies and adult dogs.
We now have seven people who can instruct, five of whom are on a rota and take a class for a four month period, and two who are available to fill in if one of the regular instructors is away.
We work towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme, daily good behaviour and competitive obedience, and the club competes in the South Western Obedience League. We have members who have experience of and can advise on Working Trials, Agility and Breed showing.
Please come along on any Wednesday you like and see what we get up to - and do bring your dog so that we can assess which class is the most suitable for you.
An introductory chat is given at 6.15pm to prospective new members. You can join then and will be told when you can start in your class.
The puppy and starter classes usually admit new members on the first Wednesday of each month but this is dependent on the numbers that we have in the classes.
We ask that you come to register at least one week before the date on which you wish to start. If we have too large a number joining at once we may have to ask you to wait till the following month. So register before the date when your puppy will be ready to start.
The joining fee is £10 which will give you membership for one year. If you join after 1st October that will also cover your membership for the following year. Concession of £5 for children and Senior Citizens.
The renewal fee is £5 for each member's further year's membership.
The Class fee is £2.50 per attendance as from September 1st, 2008..
