12th May,2013 - We hosted the 10 Teams Rally at Twyning.

Plans and preparations all paid off and it went really well. It was not the best of days but didn't give us too much rain and while chilly we did end up dry and very happy and proud that we had won the shield again. We won with quite a nice margin. Our whole team lost just 78 points with our nearest rival being Stoke Bishop with 93 3/4. Results and placings on the Results page.

27th June, 2013. The next committee meeting. 7.30 at the Cheeserollers.

24th August, Our Open Show at Tewkesbury Sports Centre.

Now we have two to go to Discover Dogs Special Pre-Beginners finals. Sara Lewis has qualified Harvey by winning the heat at Coventry.

Congratulations to Babs Sharp who with Dash has qualified to go to Crufts, At Hatchford Brook she won the YKC Starters and was placed 2nd in Special Pre-Beginners. so off she goes to Discover Dogs and Prebeginners final. And now Babs has also qualified Sammy for the YKC at Crufts!  Fantastic.

NB. We are the hosts for the Ten Teams Rally next year. May 12th. 2013. The aim is for the host team to make as much money for a National Canine Based Charity as they can. Any ideas?  I am not Wing Walking or Sky Diving!! But any thing land-based will be considered!! Items for an auction are invited.

Congratulations are in order to Sue Luce who has won the Special Charity C Class with Archie at the heat put on at Preston and Fylde Show and this puts him in the final later on this year at Birmingham. Unfortunately once you have won a heat you can't have another go until the final, but I am sure Archie won't forget that that's the way to do it!!

We started the year with a couple of training sessions at my place on Sundays. It is good to see several new members taking a real interest in putting in some extra work to get to know more bout the sport of Obedience.

Now of course we have changed to Monday evenings and any club member is welcome to come and train with us - anytime from 6.30pm onwards.

Steph Woolham's course.

Twelve of us handled on the course.   The information and advice was liberally handed out and we were all amazed at the fantastic improvement in all the dogs - from a rather nervous start on Saturday morning to a confident and keen A recall into heelwork from each dog to finish up with. Thank you Steph, for your teaching, your encouragement and the confidence you gave us that our dogs could do it.

The Annual General Meeting.

The AGM was held on 14th March,2012. One change to the committee in that Babs Sharp has agreed to come on to fill the one vacant place left by Nikki Smith who has stepped down. So as things stand we have:-

President - Maria Carter.

Secretary - Vicky Norton.

Treasurer - Jan West.

Committee - Melvin Bettridge,Sheila Godwin, Emma Hagen, Janet Martineau, Sally Measham, Ann Parker, Babs Sharp, Claire Stewart and Mike Townsend.

The annual cups and trophies were awarded and then we proceeded to have some refreshments and to take part in Sally's quiz, which as usual was great fun. No one knows who won. So everyone was happy!!

2011

18th September, 2011. Congratulations are due in that Claire Stewart has taken another step up the obedience ladder by winning out of Beginners - with Carney. A brill way to end the season - now for the big boys classes!!

21st August, 2011. Congratulations are in order. As you will see on the results page Sue Luce has recently won out of Novice with Morti, Sandra Hill has won out of Novice with Breeze and Vicky Norton has won out of Pre-Beginners with Lola.  Many congratulations to all three.  Sandra and Sue are not new to winning rosettes but every one, and every step up the ladder with a new dog is an achievement, while Vicky's first and third with Lola over the weekend were their very first. I can still remember my first first - just - with Merry Maid of Willowmead, my very first Beardie. It's an important day.

News from 2010

Superceding all other news Sue Luce and Archie have won the ticket at East Kilbride Championship Show. Not content with that they won the Open C class as well.  What a dream day.

How many miles? how many shows? how many hours training? how many tries in Championship C?  Fantastic news - the first ticket winner for a Cheltenham Club member since Keith Forge and Becky or Diane Weston and Tank - how many years is that?

We are well into 2010 now. Club is going along well with full classes and good progress being made all round. The show season is well under way and on the results page certain people keep getting their names in the cards. We have fewer competitive members at the moment but still we did very well in the Ten Teams Rally to win it.

Sue Luce and Archie continue to make their mark at top level. Places in any class are hard enough to come by but Archie is notching up several in both open and championship C (ticket). His latest being the reserve ticket and fourth in Open C at St Mary's on 13th June nd now another reserve challenge certificate at Wakefield Show on 29th August. Keep up the faith, he will get there. And so he did - on that day of days, 5th September 2010 at East Kilbride.

Our show has been and gone - more details on the C&DDTC Open Show page. We certainly had a good day for it - the skies were blue and the clouds flew by.

Blue Skies over the show - weren't we lucky?

The Christmas Dinner 2009 was organised for us by Melvin Bettridge at the House in the Tree. Twelve members were there to enjoy a good chat and a pre-Christmas Christmas Dinner - and a drink or two..

Unaccustomed as we are to being a bit smart!!!
