Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
We started the Kennel Club Good Citizen Tests at the club in May 2001. We train dogs at all levels from pet dog to competitive obedience and this is one aspect of dog training that our first two or three classes have as their target. Good behaviour from the dogs and responsible dog ownership.
On 11th April, 2010 the tests were held at Twyning.
It was a dry and sunny day if a bit chilly in the breeze. Heather Gardner was our judge and worked really hard to get through a mammoth number of tests for us.
We had five entering for the Gold which we organised to be taken in the morning, two of these were successful. In the afternoon there were sixteen handlers trying for Bronze of which fifteen got their certificates and finally to the silver, and out of thirteen triers eight achieved success. Better luck next time for the ones that were not ready. Our next date will be in October. Watch this space for the date.

On 4th October. 2009, at Twyning the tests were arranged and Mike Vines came to examine for us. It was a nice fine day if a bit cool when the sun went in but never mind that, it stayed dry. There were thirteen candidates for the Bronze Certificate of whom eleven were successful. Then on to Silver and out of the ten who tried six passed all sections. Eight then tried for Gold and congratulations to the six who succeeded.

On 19th April, 2009 At Twyning, the tests were put on and Heather Gardner examined for us. It was a marvellous sunny day and everyone enjoyed the wonderful weather. 14 succeeded in achieving their Bronze Certificates while 3 were deemed not ready. 6 got their Silvers, 3 not ready. 5 went in for the Gold but only one achieved it.

On 26th October, 2008 At Twyning - the tests were put on and Pete Wheeler examined for us. We were again lucky with the weather, blue sky and sunshine - what a change. We had 100% success in the Bronze Test, 4 dogs that were not ready in the Silver, and 100% success in the Gold. A good afternoon's work. Well done to all those that achieved their certificates - just a bit more work needed especially on the Stay exercises for those that didn't quite make it.

On 26th April, 2008 We held the latest set of tests. We had a magnificent number coming forward to have a go. The weather was exceedingly kind to us and a very busy and pleasant afternoon was held at Far End, Church End Nursery, Twyning. GL20 6EH -
Judge - Stephen Pitcher put everyone at their ease and made a great play of the fact that it was not competitive, that everyone should show enthusiasm and confidence and enjoy getting the most out of the dogs.

At Far End, Twyning. Judging started at 1.00pm. It was a lovely afternoon and our judge Heather Gardner made it really enjoyable and brought a lot of humour into the testing which removed the tension and made for a most enjoyable session. Thank you to Heather who had prepared her tests with a lot of thought and judged it fairly and with empathy for those who were a bit nervous of having a go.

The afternoon went well and Liz Davies and her steward Pat ran the tests very thoroughly and a good time was had by all. Two bronze and three silver entrants and one gold one were deemed not ready due to just one or two tests not being satisfactorily completed - better luck next time.
